Piotr T. Grochowski joins the group as a PostDoc
We are happy to welcome Piotr as a new PostDoc in the group. Piotr joined the group in January 3rd 2022 and will work on controlling single particles (atoms and / or nanoparticles) for macroscopic quantum physics and quantum-enhanced sensing.
Piotr obtained his BSc in Physics from the University of Warsaw in June 2016 and BEng in Computational Physics from the Warsaw University of Technology in February 2017. While simultaneously working in the groups of Prof. Kazimierz Rzążewski at the Center of Theoretical Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences and Prof. Andrzej Dragan at the University of Warsaw from 2015, he first got his MSc degree with the latter in June 2018 and PhD with the former in October 2021. In 2021 he was also a visiting researcher at ICFO Barcelona in Prof. Maciej Lewenstein’s quantum optics theory group.
His scientific interests span across different fields, including ultracold atomic gases, with the special emphasis on dynamics of binary quantum mixtures and quantum carpets; relativistic quantum information with the Unruh effect and quantum clocks; and extended Hubbard models with which he studies high-Tc superconductivity and high harmonic generation across phase transitions.
Throughout his career, he was awarded funding grants from Polish National Science Center and was given scientific excellence prizes from the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Foundation for Polish Science, and the Polish Minister of Science. He also expresses his passion for popularizing science, claiming a prize for the best popular science article for a paper on fermionic quantum carpets.
